STORY BEHIND OUR NAME
The name CHOWPATTI holds a special place in Kapadia Family's heart. CHOWPATTI, a vegetarian restaurant in Arlington Heights, IL is named after a beach in Bombay (Mumbai), India, where culinary delicacies and tasty tid-bits are sold by food vendors.
When Anil Kapadia and his wife dated in Bombay, their weekly outing took them to Chowpatti Beach, where they enjoyed tasty food preffered by food vendors under the stars. They had a view of beach from the balcony of their home. Daughters Sneha and Niyanta have fond memories of making sand-castles on that beach and also sampling varieties of food that was sold there.
So Anil decided to name his cuisine Chowpatti, hoping that he also can help make memorable moments in the lives of his diners.
